I grew up with a whittling knife that felt like an old friend—simple, reliable, and just right in the hand. Its blade shape stuck with me over the years, so I set out to recreate it. But this time, I wanted something that wouldn’t tire your grip after long hours at the bench or out in the field.
So I carved out a handle with a shape that nestles into your palm like it’s meant to be there—built for comfort, not compromise. For the steel, I reached for MagnaCut—a powder steel I trust in my police-grade blades. It’s tough as nails, shrugs off corrosion, and keeps its edge when others would throw in the towel.
And the handle? That’s where the soul of the knife shows. I pieced together 38 blocks of hand-sanded wood—Lacewood, my aged Red Oak, and a bold Leopardwood bolster—with brass inlays at the joints to catch the light just right. It’s not just a tool—it’s a story in your hand.
